Air Source Heat Pumps

Generate your own energy and protect yourself from rising fuel costs. An Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) can reliably supply significantly more energy than it uses, allowing a reduction in the running costs of many homes – even at temperatures as low as -20˚C.

The heat pumps we supply, specifically; Nibe and Daikin, are amongst the most advanced and efficient models available in the UK and with no local CO2 emissions, they help reduce impact on the environment.

How do air source heat pumps work? – a typical heat pump refrigeration cycle:

Air source heating systems, sometimes known as air-to water systems, use the refrigeration process to transform low-grade energy from the air outside into high-grade energy which can be used for heating within your home and advanced inverter technology means greater efficiency over the entire year. The continuous cycle of changing the state of the refrigerant from liquid to vapour, allows the heat pump to extract maximum energy from the air to heat the domestic hot water and heating.

Both air source heat pumps and ground source heat pumps are best suited to modern buildings or refurbished properties which are highly insulated.

There are government funding initiatives available, like Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) to help with the cost of Air Source Heat Pump installations.
