The six biggest UK power firms have been invited to meet consumer groups and regulator Ofgem by the energy secretary, Chris Huhne, in a summit on gas and electricity prices, with a view to clamping down on energy price rises. The government are at last recognising that UK householders are going to struggle to heat their home this winter with temperatures set to plummet. With “the increasing rise in cost of gas on the international market it’s unfortunately inevitable that energy prices will continue to rise long term”, says Phil Bentley, the managing director of British Gas. Here at Aqua Solar Energy, we believe that to avoid being held hostage by these big energy suppliers, the obvious solution is for domestic householders to switch to generating their own electricity and get paid by their energy supplier for it. Remember you get 43.3p per kW of electricity you generate and another 3p per kW of electricity you don’t use which gets fed back into the national grid. Remember Solar, it’s not only the greener solution but better for your pocket.
